What is the difference between fia and FBLA? |
A |
While both FBLA and fia are intended to be business-based club organizations, FBLA is primarily focused on the proliferation of business management skills. In FBLA, many skills that are necessary in the business world such as typing, accounting, programming, etc., are transformed into competitive events in which members on a local, regional, or national scale will try to outdo one another. What is different about fia is that it does not isolate the skills necessary to conduct business. Instead, fia encompasses all of the skills for business by helping members think through and execute business processes. fia members are challenged to come up with ideas, collaborate, and work on projects in order to develop new products, services, or businesses altogether. |
Q |
How does fia help to “make my ideas realities”? |
A |
fia helps to develop ideas by providing resources to enhance collaboration, which will result in the proliferation of new ideas to make our world a better place. |
Q |
What distinguishes fia from other clubs in the eyes of college admissions officers? |
A |
The difference between fia and any other club from the perspective of colleges is the fact that fia promotes creative, outside-the-box thinking. In fia, the ideas are not just conversation, they are action. Because of this, colleges view this club as an outlet for students to demonstrate skills with real-world applications. These skills are enticing to many colleges because they help set you apart from most of the other applicants. |
Q |
Could some ideas evolve into companies? |
A |
It is very likely that at least one new business or product could blossom from any one of the fia branches each year. fia’s atmosphere encourages members to develop their ideas from the stages of conception all the way to execution. But if the idea’s creator does not feel comfortable or feels they cannot devote the proper time to their project, then there is nothing stating that the idea needs to be pursued. In fact, we have a system in place for other members of the organization to develop these ideas. |
Q |
What kind of things does fia have to offer? |
A |
In fia, members will not just be given an opportunity to voice their thoughts and collaborate with their peers, but they will be given the opportunity to network with powerful people in the innovation community that have ties to a wide variety of industries. Fia is a judgement-free environment for all members to voice their raw thoughts for any idea, no matter the practicality. |
